500 years ago
Built by the Venetians in the 16th century, Hotel Castro is the patrimonial house of the Danassi’s family, belonging to them for five generations.
In 1970 the 4th generation owner Nicolaos Danassis, after a proper renovation of the building, established the first hotel on the island under the name “Danassi’s Hotel”.
In 1993 the hotel passed to the 5th generation owner Despo Danassi-Kallianta, undergoing a new renovation.
In 2012 after a new renovation, the hotel improved its functionality by adding new comforts.
Present,Hotel Castro remains atmospheric, hospitable and unique, meeting the expectations of visitors, whose selection is based on particular criteria, like history, architecture and location.

Location

Hotel Castro, located inside the old section of the medieval Castle (Castro), is part of the northern defensive side of the fortress of Folegandros, which served as a defensive fort as well as residence protecting the population against hostile raids and piratical invasions.

History

Hotel Castro is the patrimonial house of the Danassi’s family, owned by them for the last five generations. It is a part of the northern side of the medieval Castle (Castro) and it is structured on levels according to the morphology of the ground. More precisely, its north side is located on a cliff with a vertical height of 130 meters above the sea level. Its south side has a fantastic view of Chora (the central town of the island) while the rooms in the ground floor, with their porches, communicate with the small road of the Castro area. Quoting the words of the famous Greek modern painter Alekos Fassianos written in our Guestbook:

Πολιτική ακύρωσης:

* Το αίτημα ακύρωσης της κράτησης σας θα πρέπει να αποσταλεί εγγράφως μέσω φαξ/email το αργότερο 21 ημέρες πριν από την ημερομηνία άφιξής σας ώστε να μην υπάρξουν ακυρωτικά τέλη.
** Σε περίπτωση ακύρωσης εντός των 21 ημερών από την ημερομηνία άφιξής σας, θα υπάρξει χρέωση του 50% του συνολικού κόστους της κράτησης ως ακυρωτικά τέλη.
*** Σε περίπτωση ακύρωσης εντός των  21 ημερών πριν από την άφιξη σας για κρατήσεις σύντομης διαμονής σε διάρκεια, η χρέωση τουλάχιστον 2 διανυκτερεύσεων θα εφαρμοστεί ως ακυρωτικά τέλη.
**** Εάν δεν εμφανιστείτε ή θα μείνετε τελικά στο ξενοδοχείο λιγότερες νύχτες από την αρχική σας κράτηση (για οποιονδήποτε λόγο),η καταβολή του 100 % του κόστους του συνόλου της κράτησης σας θα εφαρμοστεί ως ακυρωτικά τέλη.

Cancellation Policy:

* Cancellation must be sent in written via fax or email 21 days prior to your arrival date and there will be no cancellation fees charged.
** Any cancellation within 21 days of your arrival date a 50% of the cost of the total amount of your reservation will be charged as cancellation fees.
*** In case of cancellations within 21 days prior to arrival for short-stay reservations, a charge of at least 2 nights will be applied.
**** If you do not show up or you will finally stay at the hotel less nights than your initial reservation (for any case), the payment of the 100% of the cost of your entire booking will be applied.

*** En cas d’annulation moins de 21 jours avant l’arrivée pour les séjours de durée courte, une charge d’au moins 2 nuits sera facturés.
**** Si vous ne vous présentez pas ou si vous allez enfin rester à l’hôtel moins de votre réservation initiale (pour tous les cas), le paiement de 100% du coût de l’ensemble de votre réservation sera facturé comme des charges d’ annulation.
